Los Angeles’ Luka Doncic’s Christmas video went viral before the Rockets clash

On Thursday night, The Los Angeles Lakers will hit floor for a home game at Christmas against the Houston Rockets in a clash between two Western Conference playoff teams. The Lakers hope to have a star Luka Dončić is back in the lineup after a brief absence with a leg contusion – Doncic is currently listed as doubtful to play, although ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania previously reported that he is expected to be available for the game.
On Christmas morning, the Lakers’ official account on X, formerly Twitter, posted a video of some of their players putting up decorations around the team’s practice area, and one of featured clips shown Dončić knocks down a three-pointer with a Santa hat.
Fans in the comments section must have had some thoughts.
“I love you Lakers, but can we please wrap the defense under a tree. Thank you,” one fan wrote.
“Merry Christmas, let’s get this WIN!” added another one.
Indeed, some have pointed to the defense as a reason not to take the Lakers seriously as a legitimate Western Conference title threat, as Los Angeles doesn’t have many (any?) players who are elite on both sides of the ball, while some of their conference counterparts have more players that fit the bill.
Still, Los Angeles has been impressive so far this season, currently 19-9, despite Doncic, Austin Reaves and LeBron James missing time on the campaign.
Either way, all eyes will certainly be on Doncic, assuming he’s fit to play, for his first Christmas game in purple and gold on Thursday night. The Lakers and Rockets are scheduled to tip things off at 8:00 PM ET from Los Angeles.
After that, the Lakers take to the floor Sunday night against the Sacramento Kings.
