Luka Doncic could not hide his disgust at the journalist’s question about LeBron James, Austin Reeves
The The Lakers were able to pull off an exciting win over the Pelicans as they set their sights on the Nuggets on Thursday to put together a three-game winning streak. After the game, Doncic I have a question which he has already answered many times.
Ever since the All-Star break, there have been talks about whether LeBron James’ “Big Three” of the Lakers, Luka Dončićand Austin Reeves fits the bill. Talk has grown in the media, especially since the numbers show that lineups with just Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves, with LeBron James off the floor, have a better net rating. Likewise, teams with only LeBron on the floor and Doncic and Reaves on the bench have a better net rating.
As there was heated debate over whether the Lakers’ three stars really fit, Luca signaled his defiance of the conversation in a postgame interview following the win over the Pelicans.
“Are you going to ask me this question every night?”
Although reluctant to continue talking about the subject, he did provide an answer.
“I mean just what everybody sees. Obviously we’ve won three in a row. We’ve been playing together since the All-Star break…obviously the chemistry is going to develop every day, every game we play.”
The Lakers are currently 37-24 and are the sixth seed in the Western Conference. They are two games ahead of the Suns, who sit as the seventh seed and in the Play-In tournament. Their game against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday is crucial, as Denver is just one game ahead of Los Angeles in the win column.
After a season in which all three stars missed significant time, the Lakers finally feel they have a relatively healthy roster as they head into a very important stretch of games that includes matchups against playoff teams like the NuggetsKnicks, Timberwolves and Rockets.
