Luka Doncic drops the mic on his near-impossible 3 in the Kings’ win

The Los Angeles Lakers had so much control of Sunday night’s contest against the Sacramento Kings that it seemed like Luka Doncic he had to pull some tricks from the deepest reaches of his bag just to entertain himself and the fans at Cripto.com Arena. With less than four minutes left in the third quarter, Doncic nailed an incredible three-pointer after a move that belongs more in streetball than in a professional basketball environment.

Doncic was smothered by Kings defender Daekwon Plowden, and tried to blow past him towards the basket. But just as he saw Plovden off balance, Doncic tried to pull away for a three-pointer. Even he couldn’t handle his swing, and ended up slipping, but he still had control of the basketball. He then proceeded to dribble back behind the line and drill a slanted three over Plowden’s competition.

“I did it on purpose. I-1 mixtape? That’s what they were saying on the bench,” Doncic said in his postgame presser, via Khobi Price of the California Post.

Doncic may have said that he did it on purpose as a joke, but it’s hard not to take him seriously at this point. The Lakers, after all, played the Kings all night, and that clip just proves that they were leagues above them that night.

The Lakers have been somewhat inconsistent of late, and the vibes haven’t exactly been flawless considering how Deandre Ayton was not very pleased with his role behind it. But this win over the Kings at least helps boost the team’s morale, and Doncic’s And-1 mixtape shot only brought the team closer together.

The Lakers will then look to continue their winning streak on Tuesday when they take on the New Orleans Pelicans at home.
