Luka Dončić is day by day with a lower leg contusion

Recently, the Los Angeles Lakers fell back to Earth with an ugly loss along the way against the rival Los Angeles Clippers. Los Angeles lost three starters early in this game, with Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and Deandre Ayton all injured, and by the end, Luka Dončić also joined them on the side with the leg injury.

On Monday, the team got an update about the progress of Dončić’s status after the injury.

“Luka Doncic is on the day-to-day list with left leg contusion, Lakers coach JJ Redick says,” NBA insider Marc Stein reported on X, formerly Twitter.

It’s certainly not the worst news in the world for the Lakers given the scare that occurred when Doncic was forced to leave the game on Saturday.

Overall, injuries have been a problem for the Lakers so far this year, with LeBron James missing the first part of the season, Austin Reaves now out for more than a week, and Doncic now slated for another layoff after missing time earlier this year.

With this being the case, the team’s depth has been tested, as well as head coach JJ Redick’s ability to configure effective lineups that can get it done on both ends of the floor.

Either way, the Lakers will next take the court on Tuesday night on the road against the Phoenix Suns. That contest is scheduled to begin at 9:00 PM ET from the desert.
