Luka Doncic passes Kobe Bryant with an assist against the Clippers



once again, Luka Dončić delivered signature performance from the superstar in the 125-122 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers via the Los Angeles Clippers. The Slovenian guard finished with 38 points, 11 assists, six rebounds, three steals and eight 3-pointers and eventually broke a great record.

The performance marked Doncic’s 10th game as a Laker with at least 35 points and 10 assists, surpassing Kobe Bryant for the third most such appearances in franchise history, according to the post on Ks OC Register Benjamin Royer.

Returning from a four-game absence due to a mild hamstring strain, Doncic was at his best from the start, scoring 17 points in the first quarter with four 3-pointers. While Doncic led the Lakers, Kawhi Leonard did something similar for the Clippers, finishing with 31 points to keep his team in the hunt until the end.

Despite the Lakers blowing their lead to 15 points in the second half, the Clippers went on a 20-3 run to regain control. Still, Doncic was at his best again in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 points after Leonard exited with more than five minutes left with an ankle injury.

The game also proved Doncic’s ability to lead alongside Austin Reaves and LeBron James. Doc Reaves scored 29 points on the nightJames had a double-double with 13 points and 11 assists.

The trio shared the court for just the 11th time in 55 total games, but the night really belonged to Doncic, who outplayed Bryant despite his relatively short time with the Lakers. However, the Slovenian himself will be delighted to win his first game since the All-Star break.

The Lakers are now in 5th place in the West at 34-21 and have also kept the Clippers from reaching the .500 mark. Leonard and company are currently 9th in the conference at 27-29 and will look to get back to winning ways against the Orlando Magic.
