Luka Doncic reacts to the “incredible” honor of voting for the All-Star NBA League

Luka Doncic becomes the face of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise was such a perfect storm. Doncic was already one of the most famous and beloved players in the NBA even when he was still with the Dallas Mavericks, but it was because of being with the Lakers that his star shined so much. It’s no coincidence that he ended up being the leading vote-getter for 2026. NBA All-Star Gamewith over 3.4 million fan votes to his name.

Before the Lakers’ Tuesday night game against the Denver Nuggets during NBA Rivalry Week, Spectrum SportsNet’s Mike Trudell asked Doncic what does that mean to get so much love from fans all over the world.

“It’s pretty great. For me, I don’t take it for granted. I want to thank everyone who voted for me. It’s a big, big achievement for me, so it’s amazing to be leading this,” Doncic said. “Being an All-Star is an incredible honor.”

Doncic is averaging 33.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 8.6 assists per night, making him worthy of such an achievement. The Lakers would be lost without him, and while the Purple and Gold have a lot to figure out, having Doncic around is already a good enough place to build a franchise.

Right now, the Lakers are battling some of the worst teams in the NBA when it comes to defensive rating. They have the sixth worst defense heading into their battle Tuesday night against the Nuggets, they definitely need help from the outside to try and cover some of their weak spots.

Strengthening the team on the wings will be important for Lakers before the trade deadlinealthough it remains to be seen how aggressive they would be in their pursuit of an upgrade in the market.
