Luka Dončić takes the blame for the Suns’ debacle with a ‘confusing’ claim

Luka Doncic was the gift that keeps on giving for Los Angeles Lakersbut he had his share of struggles in the 2025-26 NBA season as well.
Despite totaling 38 points against the Phoenix Suns at Cripto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Monday, Doncic’s night was far from perfect. First of all, The Lakers ended up losing to Dillon Brooks and company125-108, as LA’s seven-game winning streak also came to an end.
Dončić also had problems with keeping his skin.
The 26-year-old Doncic had nine of the Lakers’ 22 turnovers. Even considering its heavy use, those errors were still unacceptable.
The Suns’ defense can take credit for that win, as Phoenix fed turnovers forced by LA and turned them into 32 points. In contrast, the Lakers had just 13 points on 11 Phoenix turnovers.
Even Doncic acknowledged the Suns efficiency on that side of the floor.
“I feel like it was definitely a different defense than other teams (play),” Doncic said after the game, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin .
“They’re kind of trying to let me score instead of creating for others. So it was a little confusing, but like I said, I just can’t let it,” added the former NBA scoring champion.
Doncic and the Lakers will have to learn from the loss to Phoenix as they move on to the next one.
The 15-5 Lakers will go on a three-game road trip next, starting with this Thursday’s meeting with the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
