Luka Dončić will play on Christmas Day against the Rockets

On Tuesday evening, The Los Angeles Lakers are down road game against the Phoenix Suns. This game marked the return of Austin Reeves after a short absence due to injury, but Luka Doncic did not play as he recovers from a leg contusion he suffered over the weekend against the rival Los Angeles Clippers.
Some fans wondered if the illness could affect Doncic’s availability for the Lakers’ Christmas Day game against the Houston Rockets, and on Wednesday, got their answer.
“Luka Doncic is expected to play on Christmas Day against the Houston Rockets. I’m told he’s going to practice today and as long as it goes smoothly, he’ll be back in the lineup,” ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported on X, formerly Twitter.
Doncic has been the Lakers’ primary leader throughout 2025-26, currently leads the NBA in scoring by a wide margin, and has established himself as the front-runner for the league’s MVP award.
The Lakers struggled in his absence over the weekend, losing games to the Clippers and Suns despite LeBron James putting up impressive stats in both contests.
The Lakers will now welcome a Rockets team that will be looking for a win after losing back-to-back games against the Sacramento Kings and Clippers in their last two contests.
Either way, the Lakers and Rockets will tip off at 8:00 PM ET on Christmas night from Los Angeles. The game will be carried by ABC.
