Magic is punished by Taurus
“Back-to-back” at home badly negotiated for Magic. A day after losing in the last moments against the Hawks, now losing to Bullsand logically, after most of the match was chasing the score (110-98).
I Paolo Banchero (24 points, 10 rebounds) made his stats, and he sure messed up quite a bit, too Josh Giddei finishes as his team’s leading scorer (21 points, 8 rebounds), it’s really a bench Chicago (58 points) that changed everything last night. Especially sinceOrlando he didn’t have a great night in terms of skill (12.5% ββon 3-pointers…), except that he was often punished when his opponents increased the tempo on the counterattack.
Neck and neck for three quarters, despite the visitors’ initial deficit at the end of the first half, which was quickly erased by the home team, the Magic and the Bulls pulled away in the final quarter.
With 3-point baskets, Aio Dosunmu (15 points) and other substitutes from Illinois went 10-2, then 8-2, which definitely stunned the Floridians. 2/2 is in the pocket on the side of Billy Donovan’s men and nothing has been stolen, compared to what we can see in the game.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– In Chicago, substitutes fit. Kobe White is gone, but Josh Giddy and Nikola Vucevic are, except it’s mostly the Bulls’ bench that made the difference for two games: 93 total points! Last night, Billy Donovan’s men scored an incredible 58 points with their “second unit”, led by Jalen Smith, Ayo Dosunmu, Patrick Williams and Kevin Huerter. They were the ones who took turns and were the first to put the team ahead in the first half. Then they, and especially Dosunma with his three 3-point baskets, delivered the final blow in the fourth quarter.
– Orlando is failing from afar. The arrival of Desmond Bain still hasn’t solved all the skill problems on the Magic side. After finishing 9/31 from 3-point range the previous day, Jamal Mosley’s players managed to go worse last night: 3/24 from behind the arc! They tried to make up for it by going to the free throw line (27/33), but it wasn’t enough, because a few winning baskets wouldn’t be too much. Even more so when the Bulls scored three times as many goals, sometimes it really mattered.
