Magic takes down the Knicks powerfully again

Orlando Magicten days ago, Magic used the trip to Madison Square Garden to begin a run that would allow them to collectively get back on track after a rocky start to the season. Almost two weeks later, Nix again suffered the law of the Floridians (133-121), after a lively match.

I Jalen Brunson (33 points, 11 assists) et Karl-Anthony Towns (24 points, 8 rebounds) managed to keep their place on the side of the team New Yorkthey couldn’t compare to the trio Franz Wagner (37 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds) – Desmond Bane (27 points) – Jalen Suggs (26 points), simply irresistible for Orlandowhile Paolo Banchero was still missing.

Close to setting a new career scoring record, Franz Wagner carried the Magic for three quarters, especially waking them up when the Knicks got off to a great start (15-5), after a sharp Jalen Brunson and in all good shots. Things then balanced out by the end of the third quarter (93-93), the deficit no longer exceeded ten units.

A moment Orlando chose to make a difference. Already with 12-2 led by Desmond Bain, Anthony Black and Jonathan Isaac, but above all with 13-0 started by the famous trio of Franz Wagner – Desmond Bain – Jalen Suggs. The energy was high in Florida’s ranks, as much as their 3-point prowess or their dominance in the paint, and their defense also blew up New York’s offense.

In less than three minutes, the difference increased from +5 to +18 in favor of the home team, and neither Jalen Brunson nor Karl-Anthony Towns were able to restart the series to ignite the end of the match. WHO. standing, as did his players, Mike Brown finally had to face the facts and empty his bench, making New York’s defeat official.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

Orlando continues a good streak. Paolo Banchero may have watched his teammates in civilian clothes for ten days (and a match against… the Knicks), but that didn’t stop the Magic from going on a winning streak: three straight, six in seven games and even nine in twelve games. Offensively, Jamal Mosley’s players have recently found a nice cruising speed behind Franz Wagner, and the energy of Desmond Bain, Jaylen Sugg, or Anthony Black is contagious for the entire group, while Wendell Carter Jr., Goga Bitadze, or Jonathan Isaac do a monster job of controlling the paint. Things are finally taking shape.

New York was three minutes away. Still tied at the end of the third quarter and down one possession early in the fourth, the Knicks went into the water with eight minutes left, facing all the enthusiasm of the Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs and Desmond Bain gang. Penalized for 3 points and in the paint, in addition to stuttering their basketball between turnovers and bad shots, Mike Brown’s men went on a 13-0 run that put them out in no time, or almost. The kind of “run” that showed the offensive and defensive limits of this group, which has not been physically polished lately.

Landry Shamet is out with an injury. After being hit in the right shoulder, the same one he dislocated a year ago, Landry Shamet was unable to return to the game. It was in the first quarter when the Knicks player got hurt, trying to stop Jalen Sagg from going through the middle of the court, but he took a strong screen from Wendell Carter Jr. that brought him to the ground. Bouncing back and forth between the five and the bench due to injuries on both sides, the guard was — before Saturday — averaging 15.2 points through five games. With OG Anunoby already out until December, New York is hoping his injury won’t be too serious.

Sick, Jamal Mosley stayed in the locker room. Jamal Mosley’s absence after halftime is hard to miss. Not at his best, he let his assistant Joe Prunty take over in the second half and we can say that things went very well, as the Magic players then inflicted a +12 (69-55) on the Knicks, without their coach on the bench.
