Malachi Tonei drops a defiant truth bomb


Miami (FL) Football he last played for a national championship four years before Malachi Toney was born. Carson Beck put the Hurricanes back in the title game with his epic game-winning run. Tony himself became a natural born Hurricane legend with some spectacular moments against Ole Miss.

Tony was supposed to enjoy his senior year at American Heritage High in Fort Lauderdale. But he enrolled early in Miami and now they will try their first game for the national title. And by showing courage past the ‘Canes with less than 5:30 left.

He later dropped a defiant truth bomb after a climactic back-and-forth with the Rebels that beat Miami 31-27.

“We bend, but we don’t break. We fight until the end,” Toney said, via Brett McMurphy of On3/Rivals.

Sinking was rated as an 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins “an inside receiver with the skills to emerge as a high-volume target and the best playmaker in the wideout offense.”

This scouting advertisement was manifested at State Farm Stadium. Especially during the fourth when Ole Miss surged briefly.

The quarterback threw a simple short screen to Tony. But he missed two failed tackles, momentarily lost his footing, but still raced to the end zone 36 yards.

That wasn’t his scariest moment, though. It arrived during the last run…and was incomplete on the pass, but still worth noting.

Toney caught five passes for 81 yards and a late touchdown. He even encouraged NBC Sports college insider Nicole Auerbach to start her Heisman Trophy campaign for 2026.

The last time Miami went to the national championship game was long before Sept. 17, 2007 β€” Tony’s birthday. He was born into the Hurricanes’ new beloved star ahead of past legends who wore the “U” on their helmets. Now he gets one more home game with the ‘Canes β€” the national title game at Hard Rock Stadium.
