Malik Monk, “DNP” speaking in Sacramento
during the summer, Jonathan Cumminga failed join the Kings in exchange for Malik Monk. A few months later, the two haven’t budged, but they’re no longer in their teams’ rotations…
Against the Blazers, Doug Christie really went without a back, earning him a “DNP”!
“We decided to defend, but it’s crowded”explained the coach, when asked about this choice. “We have a lot of guards, so every time Keon (Ellis) was sacrificed, Keon was the one who had to stay on the bench. We played against Keon tonight, so Malik was left out.”
This omission of the man who was still second in the vote for the 2023/24 Best Sixth Man trophy was still surprising, with many fans wondering if a trade was in the offing.
No direct trade?
Selon and the sacrament of beeshowever, this is not the case, and it is simply a strong choice by Doug Christie.
“we are looking”explains the coach. “So far it hasn’t gone the way we wanted. I have to say that obviously we haven’t had all the cards in our hands, but the fact is that we keep looking. We keep pushing. We stop at nothing, trying to find a way to not only win, but to find an opportunity to say this is the standard we’re going to apply.”
And since no tested solution has yet borne fruit, we must expect further experimentation, even if Keon Ellis still has his chance in the near future.
“Nothing is final”concludes Doug Christie. “Obviously we will continue to try to find solutions, but Keon played well. We will give him a chance and allow him to continue to improve.
