Marcus Smart isn’t holding back on the Thunder’s explosion

The Los Angeles Lakers must have entered their Wednesday night clash against the Oklahoma City Thunder with high hopes. After all, it was OKC’s second night of back-to-back games, and they have the edge the rest of the way after Monday night’s win over the Charlotte Hornets. But then it is The Lakers continued to get punched in the mouth — with the Thunder howling them to the tune of a 121-92 demolition.

From the start, the Lakers received no mercy from the relentless Thunder. OKC forced turnovers left and right, and the Purple and Gold couldn’t answer. They resorted to too many hard shots, and since both Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves had shooting nights, there was no chance for the Lakers to put up much of a fight.

At the end of the day, all the Lakers could do was acknowledge the fact that they were torn apart by the reigning champion Thunder. After the game, the veteran quarterback Marcus Smart he just begged his team to take this blow on the chin and move on.

“We can’t take anything away other than they beat us and we have to come back,” Smart said, via Kobe Price of the So Cal News Group.

Really, during an 82-game grind, there’s no point in dwelling on a loss like this. The Lakers are still 8-4 on the season and have yet to get a minute from LeBron James this season.

The Lakers will look to get back to winning ways when they take on the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA Cup on Friday night.

The Lakers turned the ball over 20 times against the Thunder on Wednesday, and that’s a recipe for disaster against the best defensive team in the league. Furthermore, Doncic and Reaves shot a combined 11-32 from the field, and it’s impossible for a purple and gold team that relies too heavily on these two players to win whenever they shoot this poorly.

Having James back would help a lot with the Thunder, as he will provide pressure on the rim, creating easier perimeter shots for LA.
