Marcus Smart turns into Stephen Curry with a barrage of 3s against the Spurs

Occasionally, a random player will suddenly pop up and have the game of their life. Marcus Smart has missed the last six games for the Los Angeles Lakers before their match against the San Antonio Spurs. Signed this offseason, Smart has provided good defense, but shooting has never been his forte.

Still, even before his time with the Lakers, Smart was always good for a wild shooting night. The Lakers felt the good experience of Marcus Smart in the game against the Spurs. The former DPOI had a wild shooting night, hitting eight 3-pointers as Los Angeles attempted a comeback against San Antonio.

Smart made seven of his eight 3-pointers in the second half as the Lakers tried to rally from a 24-point comeback. Before the game, the Bulldog guard was shooting just 25% from three-point range. In this game, Smart shot 57% from three, finishing the game with 26 points, three rebounds, one assist and one block off the bench.

Unfortunately, the efforts of Smart and Luka Dončić (35 points, eight assists, five rebounds) were not enough. The Spurs without Victor Wembanyama upset the Lakers behind 30 points and ten boards from Stephon Castle and 20 points from De’Aaron Fox. With that defeat, the Lakers were eliminated from the NBA Cup. LeBron James added 19 points and 15 rebounds, but the Lakers’ bench did not exist without Van Smart. In contrast, the Spurs got 17 and 16 points from Keldon Johnson and Justin Champagne off the bench, respectively.
