Mark Cuban who participated in the meeting that sealed Nick Harrison’s fate

With The Dallas Mavericks are firing general manager Nick HarrisonIt seemed like a long time ago for fans of the franchise since the shocking trade move Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers. As it is rumors will continue surrounding the Mavericks and Harrisonexplains the latest report Mark Cuban‘s involvement.

NBA insider Marc Stein will report that a decision has been made following Monday’s loss to the Milwaukee Bucks “basically already done by that point” regarding Harrison’s firing. Also, owner Patrick Dumont would meet with Dallas president Rick Welts and even the former owner at Cuban before Tuesday’s meeting to fire Harrison.

“During Monday night’s loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, Harrison was actually subjected to only a few variables of the Fiery Nick in the fourth quarter that has become customary at Mawsland since the spring, but league sources tell Stein Line that the decision was essentially made by that point,” Stein wrote.

“Dumont arrived at the American Airlines Center for Monday’s game much earlier than usual – nearly two hours before tip-off. Sources say he met behind closed doors before the game with team president Rick Welts and former majority owner Mark Cuban and duly scheduled meetings for Tuesday to end Harrison’s reign and also to personally notify the players of the time change,” Stein said.

How the basketball world reacted to the recent news, as Stephen A. Smith calls out many on the Mavericksthe participation of the Cuban is no doubt interesting. If there was one person who questioned the decision to trade Doncic, it was Cuban, as even Smith said on ESPN’s “First Take” that if Cuban is still the owner, “that would never happen.”

“And by the way, let’s not take away ownership, because if Mark Cuban had been there, this would never have happened,” Smith said. “Mark Cuban has stated multiple times that he would never trade Luka Doncic; it was not a move he supported.”

“So Mavs ownership is more responsible for this than anybody for letting this happen because they didn’t want to pay him that supermax contract,” Smith continued. “But in the end, owners don’t fire themselves. They find someone to blame, and Nico Harrison went all in. He knew it could cost him in the end, and unfortunately it did.”

Either way, Dallas looks to improve as they are currently 3-8 as the team faces the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
