Matas Bouzelis achieves a feat that even Michael Jordan never accomplished

The Chicago Bulls the season started on a high. On Wednesday, they upset the Detroit Pistons for a 115-111 victory at the United Center. While their veteran center Nikola Vucevic, led the charge towards victoryMatas Bouzelis was his second in command.

Bouzelis finished the game with 21 points, six rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes of play. In the process, Buzelis accomplished the feat yes even Michael Jordan it’s not, according to the Bulls on CHSN. That is, Bouzelis became the youngest player in Bulls history to score 20+ points in a season opener.

By comparison, Jordan scored 16 points in his first season opener with the Bulls in 1984. At the time, he was a 21-year-old rookie. Fast forward to 2025 and Bouzelis is 21 years old and entering his second season in Chicago.

A far cry from where Bouzelis was a year ago. In the Bulls’ 2024 season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans, Bouzelis played just five minutes and scored no points. He managed to collect an assist and two rebounds.

This year, Bouzelis wants to use a a good result during the NBA Summer League. all the time, preparing for the NBA MVP award.

Basically he’s trying to prove that he shouldn’t be ignored.

Matas Bouzelis has Jordan as confidence and impatience

When Jordan arrived in Chicago, he was a dishonest rookie who didn’t wait his turn. The end results obviously speak for themselves.

Bouzelis possesses those same attributes, seeking success in the here and now. Meanwhile, head coach Billy Donovan was encouraging Buselis to hit the brakes before walking off the metaphorical cliff, saying that Bouzelis had not yet “arrived”.

However, Bouzelis is expected to take on a bigger role in the Bulls offense going forward. That’s because Kobe White is out with a calf injury.

On Saturday, the Bulls will play their second game of the season against the Orlando Magic.
