Matas Bouzelis makes All-Star declaration ahead of trip to Rising Stars Game

“Even though it is Chicago Bulls they look different following many trades, Matas Buzelis is still there. Recently, Bouzelis was chosen to play in the NBA Rising Stars Game during NBA All-Star Weekend.

However, Bouzelis is very keen to do more in the future. He said that he wants his shot playing in the All-Star Game, according to Joe Covelli of the Chicago Sun-Times.

“It’s still exciting for me,” Bouzelis said of his trip to Los Angeles for All-Star weekend. “Anything you get to be a part of is an honor and exciting, but I’m not going to lie, yeah, I want to be in that Sunday game for sure.”

Overall, Bouzelis emphasized that he has the ability.

“I’m fully capable of becoming a great player and this is just the process it’s going to be for me,” he said. “But I know for a fact that every year I’m going to get better as a player. I know it’s going to happen.”

“I will work extremely hard, push myself to the point of exhaustion to become that player.”

However, Bouzelis stressed that the team comes first.

“I’m more concerned with this team and as a collective group what we can achieve,” he said. “I’m all for the challenge of becoming whatever people say or believe — an All-Star, yada, yada.”

Meanwhile, Bouzelis is averaging 15.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. The Bulls are in the midst of a six-game losing streak after a 124-105 loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.

At the same time, Bouzelis is still adjusting to a brand new roster after the departure of his core teammates. That includes Kobe White, Ayo Dosunmu, Nikola Vucevic, Dalen Terry, Jevon Carter and Kevin Huerter.
