Mavericks’ Nico Harrison spotted staring off into space as chants of ‘Fire Nico’ rain down

Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison is under fire from the fans after last season’s trade of Luka Dončić. The fans don’t seem to be over it yet. Mavericks fans chanted “Fire Nico” on Monday during the team’s close loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Dallas traded their star Luka Doncic last season to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis. While other players were involved, Doncic and Davis were at the center of the deal. The The Lakers excelled with Doncic this season, as the star pours in large numbers.
Dallas, meanwhile, was struggling. Davis spent time injured last season, and the Mavericks are struggling again this year. The club has an overall record of 3-8 on the campaign.
After the trade last season, Mavericks fans also protested outside the team’s arena.

Dallas has a new star in rookie Cooper Flagg. Flagg led Duke to the NCAA Final Four last season, playing in his only college season. He was drafted by Dallas with the no. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NBA draft.
Flagg led his Mavericks on Monday against the Bucks. He scored 26 points with nine rebounds. He carries the burden as the team is once again without veteran Davis, who is battling health issues.
That injury must have frustrated Dallas fans. Despite playing a highly competitive game with Milwaukee on Monday, the fans are unrelenting in their anger at Harrison. The embattled general manager could be out of a job in the coming weeks if Dallas doesn’t start winning.
The Mavericks next play against the Phoenix Suns at home on Wednesday night. That game will give fans another chance to make their angry voices heard.
