Micah Potter plays his place in Indiana

“These guys have a great opportunity right now. They’re taking advantage of it and everyone’s watching them.” The Pacers have been on the move for several weeks now, Rick Carlisle can offer playing time to his bench. As he explains, the players in question then have the opportunity to prove themselves. Micah Potter is one of them.

Ivica Zubac, who still hasn’t played with his new team, found himself as the only option, with Jay Huff in the pivot position. The one that arrived as a Christmas present, even a ray of sunshineIndiana can now enjoy more than just crumbs. He is enjoying himself with averages of 15.4 points and 5.9 rebounds (54% shooting, 46% 3-point) in the last eight games.

“It makes things easier for me because we do what we want to do. Obviously there are limitations, but our basketball is fast, made of screens, cuts, moving off the ball. Basketball can really be a very simple sport.”, describes the player when talking about the offensive style of the Pacers. “My teammates find me. When you have teammates like that, you try to be in a good position. We play good basketball and good things happen.”

Success in good performances is not only an immediate gratification for Mick Potter, but also a promise for the future. Because the Pacers are the ones who will decide whether to keep him or not for the 2026/27 season. That’s why he has every interest to shine in the final weeks of the regular season, to convince them to keep betting on him.

“It’s already a blessing to be here. That’s the main thing. I wasn’t in the league at the beginning of the season.”he recalls. “I’m grateful to have this opportunity, but I don’t want to lose it.”

How does Rick Carlisle view his player’s performance? “Strong is the word”the coach replies soberly. “It’s solid, no frills. He’s not trying to make a fuss. He’s playing his game, to his strengths.”
