Michael Porter Jr. is ruled out, Nick Claxton is questionable for the tank matchup against the Pacers

A few Brooklyn Nets starters faced an injury report ahead of Wednesday’s tank matchup with Indiana Pacers. The Nets shut down Michael Porter Jr. for the second straight game due to right knee tendinitis. meanwhile, Nic Clacton is questionable with right hip soreness, while Noah Clowney is likely with a sprained left ankle.

Porter missed Monday’s 123-115 win over the Chicago Bulls due to knee disease. While last month, Jordi Fernandes suffered a minor MCL sprain in the same knee he said his tendinitis was unrelated.

“It’s the same knee, but it’s not connected. Tendonitis is something that athletes deal with in different parts of the body,” the coach said. “It will be good for him to take this game, see how he feels and get him back to feeling great… There’s nothing to worry about. A lot of guys are dealing with tendonitis, but I think it’s good that Mike can focus on his body now.”

Claxton was not on Brooklyn’s initial status report before the team downgraded him to questionable. Clowney made it through the last game with no apparent ankle problems.

The Nets have fallen to fifth place in the lottery table after two consecutive victories. Wednesday’s match will have significant implications for NBA tank race.

The Nets will face the Pacers for the second night of back-to-back games after a blowout win over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. Brooklyn enters the game two games behind Indiana for second place in the lottery standings. A loss on Wednesday would put them within a game of the top three.

The Pacers played most of their rotation during the win via Nix. Given their proximity to the Nets in the lottery standings and their first-round pick owed to the top-four protected Los Angeles Clippers, they will likely rest a number of players on Wednesday.
