Mike Brown calls out the media after Jalen Brunson wins NBA Cup MVP

Jalen Brunson ended his impressive run in the NBA Cup by being named MVP leading the New York Knicks past the San Antonio Spurs124-113, to win the title at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Brunson finished with 25 points with four rebounds, eight assists and one block. He joined Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo as NBA Cup MVP winners.

The wily guard is leading another strong campaign for the Knicks, who are second in the Eastern Conference at 18-7.

Coach of New York Mike Brown made a strong plea to reporters after Brunson picked up his latest hardware.

“I hope that on this stage, guys, when you start talking about MVP candidates, his name is one of the first ones that comes out of your mouth. Because on this stage, in my opinion, MVP is what this stage is all about, and winning.

“So you guys are doing your job.”

While the Knicks have another reliable weapon in the city of Karl-AntoniMikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart, the 29-year-old Brunson is the engine that keeps the team going.

Since joining the Knicks in 2022, Brunson, despite being undersized, has blossomed into one of the league’s best players, earning back-to-back All-NBA Second Team nods in 2024 and 2025.

With Brown even more empowered at left point guard, expect him to take the Knicks to greater heights as the season progresses.

The Knicks will enjoy the NBA Cup trophy for a day before getting back to work against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday.
