Mike Brown doesn’t see why Karl-Anthony Towns shouldn’t be an All-Star
Mike Brown he never hesitates to promote his players. Already particularly active in the campaign for MVP Jalen Brunsonthe coach explains that there is, according to him, “without hesitation” As for Karl-Anthony Towns: The interior is the obvious All-Star in his eyes.
His reasoning is coded. “KAT is making a double-double. He has over 20 points per game and over 10 rebounds ยป, he reminds. And the coach makes a point with collective logic: “If you’re among the top 3 teams in your conference and you’re the second-best scorer โ and the best rebounder โ you’re an All-Star. There’s no doubt about it. The only question is: Is he first-, second- or third-team All-NBA?”
A declaration which also means, as ESPN’s Brian Windhorst notesimproving the relationship between Mike Brown and Karl-Anthony Towns, who had to adjust to a new role this season.
“KAT” thus has fewer guaranteed shots this season, and Tom Thibodeau’s successor asks him to do more of the dirty work, which also makes him make a lot of quick mistakes. But the goal for the Knicks (23-10) is to have a more flexible rotation, and thus more options for major deadlines at the end of the season.
Note also that Karl-Anthony Towns explained that of course he hoped to be an All-Star and that if that were the case, he would like to join the “Rest of the World” team. as a representative of the Dominican Republic.
