Mike Brown is dealing with problems with player bui

The The New York Knicks are down lately, they keep losing on monday nights at home against the Dallas Mavericks with loss of blowdown. Madison Square Garden at one point booed its team, which was fully healthy for the first time in a long time, on Monday as they were blown out by a gutsy Dallas team that was missing several key pieces.

The Knicks are now just 1.5 games out of seventh place in the Eastern Conference, and SNI’s Ian Begley recently reported on some of the issues head coach Mike Brown experiences in his first year at the helm in New York.

“The players haven’t fully embraced their roles under head coach Mike Brown. Those reasons are often cited when you talk to people about the Knicks’ flaws,” Begley said.

He pointed out that “these problems are not unique to this year’s team. They existed to some extent in the locker room last season. But the Knicks’ coaching change did not eradicate them.”

Much has been made of Karl-Anthony Towns’ role on the team, with the big man’s production dropping dramatically over the last few weeks while his struggles on the defensive end of the floor continued to rise.

On Monday, the Knicks seemed to let the Mavericks get anywhere they wanted on the court, surrendering a few easy shots at the rim by noted Knicks killer Najib Marshall, as well as an eight-point outburst by wing Max Christie.

New York is now 25-18 on the season, which is amazing considering they were 23-9 at one point. While injuries have played at least some role in the slump, it’s not the full explanation for the lackluster performances the Knicks have shown.

Either way, the Knicks will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday night at home against the Brooklyn Nets.

If they lose that, watch out.
