Mike Tomlin responds to fans calling for him to be fired during Raiders loss
Fans on Pittsburgh Steelers are all the rage, and it’s not hard to see why. The Steelers, trying to keep up with the Baltimore Ravens in their quest to clinch the AFC North, made a mess on Sunday in their matchup against the Buffalo Bills and suffered an embarrassing 26-7 losssending them to 6-6 on the season and putting a damper on what had been a promising season for them thus far.
The fact that the Steelers suffered this loss in front of their home crowd makes this loss even more sickening. In fact, the fans in attendance at Acrisure Stadium booed their home team — with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers struggling all night with 10 completions on 21 attempts for 117 yards, even acknowledging that fans have every right to do so.
However, fans weren’t content with just pelting them with some expletives. They also called for the head coach Mike Tomlinhead — with a considerable part asking for his dismissal. Now, the Steelers are simply .500 on the season and not out of the playoff hunt, so there’s no need for such a drastic change. But at the very least, Tomlin accepted as well that there is no excuse for the rotten performance they put together on Sunday.
“I share their frustration tonight. We didn’t do enough,” Tomlin said after the game, per Brooke Pryor of ESPN.
Tomlin couldn’t elaborate on the Steelers’ performance — all he could do was admit directly how poor they were.
“There’s not much to say. It was a terrible performance by us,” Tomlin added, via Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette .
Is it time for the Steelers to panic?

Logically, the Steelers shouldn’t panic considering their closest division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, are also 6-6 on the season. The fact that they’ve lost three of their last four games and that their starting QB in Rodgers is sorely broken is troubling, but it’s hard to imagine a world where a coaching change, especially replacing Tomlin, who has been at the helm since 2007, will make a world of difference for this struggling team.
Next week’s matchup becomes increasingly important for the Steelers as they face the Ravens during Sunday Night Football action. That game could go a long way toward deciding which team wins the AFC North crown.
