Mike Tomlin’s quote perfectly sums up John Harbaugh’s tenure with the Ravens

When John Harbaugh was hired as the head coach Baltimore Ravens In January 2008, President Barack Obama’s first inauguration had not yet taken place, the beloved sitcom “Modern Family” was still a year and a half away from airing its pilot episode and Tom Brady and Bill Belichick led the New England Patriots watched the second perfect season in NFL history. Needless to say, the world is unrecognizable from when the former Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach arrived in Charm City.
Almost 18 years later, Harbaugh is leaving Baltimore. The ravens fired Super Bowl 47 champion and 2019 AP NFL Coach of the Year on Tuesday, ending the most prosperous era in franchise history. Many fans predicted this outcome (and demanded it) after the team converted multiple chances to win the AFC North vs Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, but it’s still surreal to see such a big change after so many years.
Mike TomlinHarbaugh’s contemporary/rival and the man who delivered the final dagger to this HC tenure must be feeling nostalgic following the news. His Steelers have competed in several memorable battles with the Ravens, so he can appreciate what the former Baltimore leader means to the game. Interaction between two long-time coaches from October 2023 seems particularly relevant to this day.
“Man, we’ve been in a bunch of these, you and I, haven’t we?” Tomlin asked Harbaugh before the divisional matchup, according to Ari Meirov of the 33rd team. “I remember one time I was sitting there talking about what our kids are for Halloween. And those damn kids that are all grown up now… It’s perspective.”
End of an era. The struggles between the Ravens and the Steelers with Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh as HCs are over.
They faced each other 44 times.
