Milton Williams ended the Wild Card game against the Chargers with a sack

The The New England Patriots advance to the next round of the NFL playoffs after successfully knocking off Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers in an AFC Wild Card Round game at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro by a score of 16-3.
The Pats essentially ended the competition and clinched the win when defensive tackle Milton Williams sacked Herbert on 4th-and-9 at the New England 34 with just two minutes left in the fourth quarter.
You can watch the performance here:
Williams was a one-man wrecking machine all game for the Patriots, and that sack on Herbert was the cherry on top of his incredible night.
The 26-year-old Williams had three total tackles, two hits and two quarterback sacks against the Chargers, who couldn’t solve New England’s tough defense. Herbert was crushed in the pocket multiple times by the Patriots. He passed for just 159 yards with zero touchdowns on 19-of-31 passing while being sacked six times for a loss of 39 yards.
Herbert also fumbled twice and lost one of them, as did Williams and The Patriots’ stop unit continued their relentless pressure from beginning to end.
One 49er who is excited to share the field with the Seahawks again is wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who played a key role in San Francisco’s win over the Eagles.
Williams knows what it takes to win the playoffs and hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy. His experience and stock speak for themselves, as he won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2024 NFL campaign before signing a four-year, $104 million contract with the Patriots.
That huge investment in the former Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football star seemed worthwhile for the Patriots on Sunday, with Williams playing such a huge role in silencing the Justin Herbert-led Chargers offense.
Williams had 3.5 sacks and 29 combined tackles in 12 games in the 2025 NFL regular season.
