Milwaukee locker room can ‘feel the tension in game with Giannis’

When it comes to NBA trade rumors, one name that has kept popping up over the past few seasons is Milwaukee Bucks‘ star Giannis Antetokounmpo. On Wednesday afternoon, a report emerged claiming that it was The Bucks and Giannis have begun discussions about his potential future with the team.

Before the Bucks’ game against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, Bucks head coach While Rivers explicitly said that Giannis never asked for a trade and that up to this moment no conversation has taken place. That would seemingly contradict ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that Giannis has indeed already requested a trade at some point.

Regardless of what is true or not, the whole saga is supposedly feels in the Bucks locker room, according to Shams Charani of ESPN.

“I’m told there’s tension in the locker room playing with Giannis. Giannis, sources told me, has been frustrated with recent losses, just like the organization has been … it’s getting closer to what one source described to me as ‘the writing on the wall,'” Charania said.

“My understanding is that there is a resolution to this, and whether that will lead to a trade request is expected in the coming weeks,” Charania continued. “This is a 9-13 Bucks team, they’ve lost eight of their last nine games before today’s matchup against the Detroit Pistons. And remember, in the offseason, Giannis had concerns about the team’s roster and its ability to truly compete.”

If the Bucks continue to struggle this season, those trade rumors involving Giannis are likely to grow stronger.

The nine-time All-Star had appeared in 16 games coming into Wednesday’s matchup with the Pistons, logging just over 30 minutes per game. He averaged 30.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks on 63.9 percent shooting from the line, 43.5 percent from the 3-point line and 63 percent from the free throw line.
