Multiple contending teams are interested in Cam Thomas following the Nets’ announcement

The Brooklyn Nets surprisingly released guard Cam Thomas after the NBA trade deadline, after failing to trade the star point guard to another team. Now that he’s free to sign anywhere, rumors are swirling that Thomas will have plenty of suitors.

In the latest episode of “Clutch Scoops,” featuring NBA insiders Brett Siegel and Tomar Azarly, Siegel claims that multiple teams, along with some rebuilding organizations, they go to the target 24-year-old shooter. From the looks of it, Cam Thomas could sign with a new franchise pretty soon.

“There’s going to be a lot of teams that are competing and maybe some teams that are in a little bit of a rebuild that are going to target Cam Thomas, but he’s definitely going to have interest in the league,” Siegel said.

Exactly which teams are interested in Thomas remains unclear. For now, the reported interest in Cam Thomas is just a rumor. But based on his production over most of his career, the speculation could certainly be true.

The five-year veteran became the Nets’ full-time starter in 2023-24. His ability to score makes him an intriguing sixth man option for a contending roster, or he could be one of the primary scoring options for a rebuilding franchise. This season, Cam Thomas is averaging 15.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 39.9% from the field and 32.5% from the three-point line.

Thomas recently returned to action with a strained left hamstring. It forced him to miss 20 games between November and December. But he is seemingly healthy and should be ready to play for any organization that signs him.
