MVP of the night

Ryan Rollins

There are several symbolic thresholds in an NBA career, i Ryan Rollins passed one last night when he crossed the 1,000 point mark. Even if it is the hero of the win against the Hornets is Giannis Antetokounmpo, the latter insisted on handing the match ball to his young playmaker.

“He’s amazing!”, Antetokounmpo chains about rollins. “Doc gave me the ball, but I thought it was a nice gesture to give it to Ryan. And then, I already have the option to keep the jersey. This 1,000 points means a lot to him. He played really well…”

The author of 29 points, 8 assists and 3 steals, Rollins had a near-perfect game on 11-of-13 shooting, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range. He’s never scored so many game-winning points, and he just put the Bucks back in the lead with 46 seconds left. And he’s the one who finds Kyle Kuzma for a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left.

Let’s go to 2,000

“He hit hard shots, attacked the rim, put a lot of pressure on the rim and made the right defensive choices” continues Giannis about his leader. “He was very active, and as a leader, when guys are determined, do the right things, play hard every day and are always available for the team, you have to know how to reward them as much as possible.”

For Rollins, reaching this 1,000-point milestone has a very special flavor because he had to wait until his 4th season to really start his career, after going through trades and “two-way deals.”

“It’s a privilege… but after 1,000 there’s 2,000… so I’ve got to keep going” he warns. “There was no big talk. It was mostly for Giannis. He also accomplished something huge with his 30-point, 10-rebound, 5-assist game. That’s a lot more meaningful than my 1,000 points. But they gave me the game ball, so there’s a lot of affection.”
