MVP of the night
Jarrett Allen he won’t see the All-Star game, but he was ready for it tonight because he simply had one of the best games of his career, or even just the best game of his career. In an easy win in Portland, interior of Cleveland collect 40 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks in less than 30 minutes! All on 16 of 23 shooting for a 57 rating.
The Cavaliers pivot set a personal record in points, and at halftime he already had 25 points and 10 rebounds!
“Kenny asked me to take responsibility”says Jarrett Allen. “Some guys are missing. I make it a point to be there when the team needs me. When we have players like Evan, Donovan and Darius, I’m the fourth or fifth option, which suits me very well. But when I’m needed, I’m there to score as many points as possible.”
From the first quarter, even from the interval, Jaret Allen mystified Donovan Klingan with his mobility, who already had 16 points after 12 minutes. “I’ve seen him play many times, and this is the best level I’ve seen him play at.”, testified by Kenny Atkinsonwho worked alongside Jarrett Allen early in his career in Brooklyn. “It was surreal. From the interval he completely dominated.”
Historical line of statistics
Active on the rebound, deterrent on defense and relaxed on offense, Jarrett Allen smothered everything in his path and became the first player in franchise history to finish a game with at least 40 points and 15 rebounds. Still, the history of the Cavaliers is rich.
“From the first quarter I felt that I would have a special match”he entrusted the headquarters. “And then everything came together for me. I wanted it to continue. My game relies on others creating opportunities for me and we were able to create shots throughout the match.”
The first player in NBA history to reach a stat line of 40 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists in less than 30 minutes, Jarrett Allen really impressed his coach.
“When he’s involved, when he touches the ball, you see a different ME,” concludes Kenny Atkinson. “We never stopped serving him. And then he took a lot on his shoulders, too. His energy was off limits. His aggression was off limits. Someone told me it was because he’s in Portland and he likes artsy cities. Maybe that was it.”
