Naz Reed sat out the game against the 76ers with an injury

The Minnesota Timberwolves played against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday at the Target Center without one of their key players, as Naz Reid was sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Reid has been retiring in recent weeksand going against the 76ers was a big blow for the Timberwolves, who are looking for a fourth straight victory.

It is unclear when Reed suffered shoulder injury. He played in their 122-111 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, finishing with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks in 30 minutes off the bench.

The 26-year-old Reed has a strong case for his second Sixth Man of the Year trophy, as he’s averaging career highs of 14.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals.

He signed a five-year, $125 million extension this offseason.

Timberwolves coach Chris Finch often praised the Reids work ethicswhich has helped them remain competitive in recent years.

“I can’t remember the exact time, but it was definitely in the first period of the season. I would say he really started rebounding at a high level and making a lot of those types of plays. Get out there and run, rebound, just play with more activity. That’s what really got him going offensively,” Finch said, according to a report by Timberwolves reporter Liam Villerup.

In addition to Reid, Minnesota also struggled against Philadelphia without Rudy Gobert, who served a one-game suspension.

Joan Beringer, Ayo Dosunmu and Terrence Shannon Jr. earned additional minutes without Reid and Gobert.

It is still unclear how long Reid will be out.
