NBA: Gilgeous-Alexander dazzles as Oklahoma City Thunder beat Cleveland Cavaliers

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a terrific performance as the Oklahoma City Thunder avenged last week’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers with a convincing win.

The 26-year-old poured in 40 points in 29 minutes to lead the Thunder 134-114 at the Pike Center in Oklahoma City.

Canadian Gilgeous Alexander was helped by Lugenz Dort’s 22 points, while Jaylen Williams added 19.

The result leaves the teams with identical 34-6 records atop their respective conferences.

“It’s the pinnacle and obviously you want to test yourself against the best to find out where you really are,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.

“We tested ourselves and I think we passed.”

Elsewhere, DeMar DeRozan scored 31 points as the Sacramento Kings ended the Houston Rockets’ five-game winning streak with a 132-127 win.

There were also victories for the Phoenix Suns over the Washington Wizards, the Indiana Pacers defeated the Detroit Pistons, and the Los Angeles Clippers cruised to victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.
