NBA news: Danilo Gallinari announced his retirement
One of the less appreciated players in the last 15 years or so NABA ugly gold, shooter who recently responded for the Milwaukee Bucks. Gallinari has made several stops in his NBA career after being drafted sixth overall in 2008, and now latest update on his career was discovered.
“Danilo Gallinari has retired from basketball after 20 professional seasons, including 16 in the NBA. The No. 6 pick in the 2008 draft from Italy has played 777 career NBA regular season games,” NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported on X, formerly Twitter.
Gallinari, a native of Italy, began his NBA career playing for the New York Knicks after being drafted in 2008. He then had his longest tenure with the Denver Nuggets in the mid-2010s before joining the Los Angeles Clippers in 2017.
While with the Clippers, Gallinari was one of the players who helped the team put together a playoff team in 2018-19, leading the eventual Western Conference champion Golden State Warriors to six games in the postseason that year.
He was then traded, along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and a treasure trove of draft picks, to the Oklahoma City Thunder, whom he helped make a surprise playoff appearance in 2019-20, culminating in an NBA bubble.
Gallinari’s success would continue from there, as he then joined the Atlanta Hawks and played a major role in their surprising run to the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals.
After that, Gallinari’s game would begin to wane, and he most recently played professionally in Puerto Rico before announcing his retirement on Tuesday.
Throughout his career, Gallinari has established himself as an elite shooter and an early example of what has now turned into the NBA’s full-on positionless basketball movement, largely due to his versatility as a power forward.
