NBA overturns Dillon Brooks’ technical foul on Norman Powell

The league announced Thursday that it has overturned the technical foul he received Phoenix Suns forward during the third quarter of last night’s game against the Miami Heat. The call originally followed a tumultuous sequence featuring Brooks push Heat guard Norman Powellleading to a fight in which Powell was held down by teammate Bam Adebayo.

While it is “Villain” caught a break with the league office, the Suns failed to catch any on the scoreboard, falling to Miami 127-121.

Despite the loss, Brooks was the driving force behind the Phoenix offense, dropping a team-high 25 points on 11-of-24 shooting to go along with four rebounds and two steals.

However, his touch left him from deep, as he shot a dismal 1-for-10 from three-point range. On the other hand, Powell had the last laugh in the personal duel, pouring in 27 points with five rebounds to help Miami secure the victory. Adebayo led all scorers with 29 points and nine boards.

Revocation technology is important to Brooks and the Sun. Before the fix, Brooks had 15 technical fouls, just one short of an automatic one-game suspension. He is now back to 14 technicals on the season.

While that still leads the NBA, it gives him a slightly longer leash (two more techs before his suspension) as Phoenix tries to navigate a crowded Western Conference standings.

Brooks and Sansi will look to bounce back and keep their emotions in check when they take to the court for their next match. At least for now, Brooks is avoiding the suspension list.
