Nets News: Danny Woof’s ‘Jewish Joker’ nickname has Draymond Green on his hands
Brooklyn Nets newcomer Danny Wolf turns heads with his performance after cracking the team’s rotation. The former Michigan star’s impact as a ball-handler and passer has already earned him a new nickname from some: The Jewish Joker.
Wolff isn’t the first unorthodox big man to draw early comparisons to Jokic. Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green has heard enough other players who are mentioned in the same breath as the three-time MVP.
“Now we have a Jewish Joker. We have a baby Joker (Alperen Sengun, Derrick Quinn). Enough, man,” Green said. “Like, Mehmet Okur was a great player. Nobody wants to compare anybody to Mehmet Okur. They’re just the Joker. Like, I have to fucking guard the Joker. You wanna tell me everybody’s just a Joker? Get the hell out of here. No disrespect to Danny Woof, I didn’t play against him. But enough of comparing everything to the Joker.”

Green’s response to the comparison was more than fair. The NBA may never see another big man on the level of Jokic, who is averaging 29.2 points, 12.3 rebounds and 11.0 assists on .612/.414/.855 shooting this season.
Nets rookie Danny Wolf is turning heads with an encouraging start

Still, Wolff’s performance during his first extended NBA opportunity was an exciting development for Nets fans. After dominating Michigan last season while playing on the move as a 6-foot-11 guard, the 21-year-old’s skill set has translated to the NBA so far.
Wolf looked comfortable playing on the wing and at forward with Brooklyn. The No. 27 pick is averaging 12.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists on 47/46/100 shooting in 24.2 minutes per game over his last five appearances. Despite playing on the second unit for a thin Nets team, he posted a +2.8 net rating during that span.
The wolf went viral last week after throwing the poster via Miles Bridges during the win over the Charlotte Hornets.
While the Nets rookie fell to the bottom of the first round in June, several analysts pegged him as a lottery talent. One NBA general manager voted Wolfe the biggest steal this year’s draft.
Wolff should continue to see heavy minutes for the remainder of the season as the Nets’ top draft pick corner.
