NFL Week 8 Fantasy Football roster drops
With Week 8 of the NFL and Fantasy Football season is here, it’s a critical time for fantasy managers to make key decisions regarding their starting lineups and bench players. New teams see their bye week, and the waiver wire always adds some intriguing upgrades at each position – we’ll take a look at which players it might be time to waive in order to make room for a trade.
Before we get into the players on the roster, we’ll go over the notable injury news from Week 7 action. Washington Commanders’ Jaden Daniels left the game against the Cowboys and did not return with a hamstring injury. Darren Waller of the Miami Dolphins did not return (pectoral) against the Browns. Carolina Panthers QB Brice Young is also out (ankle), opening the door for backup Andy Dalton to be in the starting lineup.
Other injuries include New Orleans Saints’ Kendra Miller (knee) and Green Bay Packers’ Dontayvion Weeks (ankle) as their statuses remain ‘questionable’. Week 7 also saw a quarterback prospect for the New York Jets as Justin Fields was benched and replaced by veteran Tyrod Taylor.
Fantasy Football Week 8 – Drop List

Justin Fields, KB (NIJ) – Ranked in 73.4% of league
With Jets head coach Aaron Glenn still undecided whether Justin Field or Tyrod Taylor will start against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8, Fields’ future as a fantasy starter looks murky. His last two games were arguably the worst of his career, with just 91 passing yards and 53 rushing yards without scoring any touchdowns.
While his quick upside has earned him a solid role in the fantasy landscape through the first five weeks of the season, things have clearly broken down in New York as Fields ranks as the 20th overall quarterback in points. It’s safe to say thank you. Fields can be played in most leagues and formats.
Christian Kirk, VR (HOU) – Listed in 21.5% of leagues
Christian Kirk entered the season as one of the exciting options for receiving quarterback C.J. Stroud, but this Texans offense was nowhere near what they had planned for in the preseason. Furthermore, Christian Kirk has missed three of six games this season, failing to record more than four catches in any of the three games he has played.
The The Houston Texans also looked awful against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football, so the ceiling for this offense in general could be much lower than we’ve seen the last two years. Christian Kirk is a sure drop even in the deep leagues.

Jerry Yeudi, VR (CLE) – Listed in 78.2% of leagues
Jerry Jedi’s situation in Cleveland is similar to Christian Kirk’s situation in Houston, but much worse. With Joe Flacco headed to Cincinnati and rookie Dillon Gabriel on offense, Jerry Jedi’s chances will be extremely limited. Even when he was healthy and on the field through the first seven weeks of the season, Yeudy failed to find the end zone, catch more than five passes in a game or eclipse 75 receiving yards.
This Cleveland Browns offense seems intent on running backs rookie phenom Quinshawn Judkinsalong with talented rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. As for Jerry Jeudy, it seems safe to drop him from fantasy lineups if there are players you’ve been watching on the waiver wire.
Michael Carter, RB (ARI) – Listed in 52.9% of leagues
After a solid effort by the Arizona Cardinals against the Green Bay Packers, it appears that outfielder Bam Knight may have secured the RB1 role opposite Michael Carter. Since Week 5, Carter has seen his carries drop from 18 to nine, to seven in his last game.
The Cardinals also have a bye in Week 8, so it might not make much sense to keep Carter on the roster, especially if you’re looking for streaming options on the waiver wire. With starter Trey Benson projected to return sometime around Weeks 10 or 11, it’s time for Carter to earn the starting snaps in a quick attrition.
Bhaishul Tuten, RB (JAKS) – Listed in 27% of leagues
Entering the season, Bhaishul Tuten was expected to be an explosive speed option opposite veteran running back Travis Etienne. While that was the case, it was much more muted than fantasy managers expected, with Etienne enjoying one of his best fantasy years in recent memory.
Tuten topped 10.0 fantasy points in just one game this season and had just one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown. He’s severely limited with his options between tries, so in the north it’s worth keeping him around unless you’re an Etienne manager who wants an insurance policy.
