Nic Clacton is down with an injury for the Pacers game

That’s it officially thin season for a good piece non-competitive NBA teams. Some tank teams simply want to increase their chances of securing a top-five pick, like the Sacramento Kings do. Other teams, such as the Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards, want to keep the top eight protected picks that they would otherwise deal with the winning clubs. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets they are still looking for a player to build around for the foreseeable future.

So it should come as no surprise that the Nets will occasionally rest some of their best players from here on out. On Wednesday night, the Nets could hang on Nic Clacton off the court because, as ClutchPoints Nets beat reporter Eric Slater pointed out, their starting center was downgraded to suspicious for tomorrow night against the Indiana Pacers due to soreness in his right hip.

Claxton previously missed just two games for the Nets, but being healthy gives Brooklyn a better chance to win. During his last game, which was against the Bulls, he had a monster 28-10 double-double in Brooklyn’s 123-115 victory.

The Nets currently have only the fifth-worst record in the NBA, so they have a tough job if they want to secure even better odds for the number one pick in this year’s draft.

How do the Nets approach a potential game without Nic Clacton?

The The Nets will already be without Michael Porter Jr. for tomorrow’s contest, so this really turned into an all-out affair between Brooklyn and Indiana.

With Clacton potentially able to join Porter on the mend, the Nets will have to rely on Dei’Ron Sharp to fill in at center if their starting big man is to actually miss time. Danny Wolf will also be tasked with playing more center minutes.
