Nick Claxton’s old quote comes up again after the 54-point loss to the Knicks

If there’s one lesson the world’s ancient philosophers have taught humanity, it’s this: The Internet never forgets. Brooklyn Nets center Nic Clacton should know.

The Nets were destroyed by the Knicks by 54 points, 120-66, at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday. The Knicks, who are in a worrying slump, vented all their frustrations like a guy who’s just been dumped by a girl out of pure crush.

After defeat, old comment of Clacton has suddenly resurfaced on social media.

“Personally, I’ve never lost to the Knicks since I’ve been in the league,” Claxton said at the 2023 press conference.

Since then, Claxton has gone 0-13 against the Knicks as the Nets have continued to grow over the past few years. In contrast, the The Knicks emerged as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, including a run to the conference finals last season.

Brooklyn drafted the athletic beanpole 31st overall in 2019. After being stuck on the bench his first two years, he developed into the Nets’ best center.

Still, fans couldn’t help but mock Claxton for his old quote.

“I’m sure he had a lot of fun today,” he said @2040Vibes.

“Never Get Old”, he added @RugbyRoad.

I’m sure the admin must be kicking the air and giggling every time he gets around to tweeting this,” wrote @Tokhamiia.

“Make him 0-14 with that ridiculous haircut,” published @lemmeknovvhatsup.

“Brother the Knicks soaped jail for this,” commented @RobCodBets.

Claxton finished with four points, four rebounds and two blocks on Wednesday. They fell to 12-30, including 2-8 in their last 10 games.
