Nick Nourse hopes Tyrese Maxey will be able to get out of bed soon
No one saw it. After playing the first 23 games of the season — and performing better while Paul George and Joel Embiid recovered from injuries — Tyrese McKay he just missed two games in a row, stricken with illness. An episode severe enough to keep him in bed for three days…
At this stage, it is difficult to accurately measure the extent of the problem. But in Philly, the concern is real, especially after the absence playmaker felt during the defeat in Atlanta. Before the meeting, Nick Nourse made no secret of his concerns.
“We are very concerned”the coach of the Sixers confided. “We’re concerned because he’s been sick and hasn’t been fit enough to take the field for a few games. After Friday’s game (against Indiana), we thought he’d be on the plane to go with us, but that didn’t happen.”
Bad timing
Tyrese Maxey scheduled a meeting with his trainer on Tuesday, hoping to regain enough strength to be available Friday at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks.
“I spoke to him and he told me that he will see me in training on Tuesday”Nick Nourse continued. “I told him I’m not sure if we’re going to train on Tuesday, but I’ll be there. ‘You and me, boy. See you there’. It’s been going on for a while. It’s worrying, but again, he’s getting better and better. Hopefully this will allow him to be fit enough to get back on the field.”
An absence that is increasingly frustrating as Paul George etc Joel Embiid they gain strength. Once Tyrese Maxey recovers, all that’s left to do is come back Kelly Oubre Jr. to integrate: absent for a month due to a knee injury, the winger recently returned to the field for a gradual return to training.
