Nick Nurse reveals ‘favourite thing’ about rookie VJ Edgecombe
VJ Edgecombethird overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft. set the NBA world on fire how he started his professional career with Philadelphia 76ers. He torched defenders left and right and looked like a big star right from the start. But he’s slowed down lately, which is to be expected from a 20-year-old rookie.
But Edgecombe seems to be finding his second wind. On Friday night, when the 76ers needed a boost due to the absence of Tyrese Maxey due to illness, Edgecombe took advantage of the increased opportunity and stepped up. The 20-year-old scored 22 points in 39 minutes of action on an efficient 6-10 shooting from the field to help Philly beat the Indiana Pacers 115-105.
Edgecombe continues to impress with how advanced his game is at such a young age. And it helps that one of his biggest fans is his head coach, with the 76ers HC Nick Nurse be impressed by how well rounded the young man’s game is.
“My favorite thing about him is he does a little bit of everything,” Nurse said after the 76ers’ win over the Pacers, via Aaron Bracey of Big 5 Hoops.
Learning how to do the dirty work is something that will benefit Edgecombe in the long run, and the 76ers certainly made the right decision to draft him given the state of their current roster.
The 76ers loom as a dark horse in the Eastern Conference

Edgecombe being so willing to take on this much responsibility has certainly helped the 76ers in their quest for a title. Health is still a big determining factor in how far they can go, but having Edgecombe as a cornerstone sets up the 76ers to at least stay competitive for the foreseeable future.
The 76ers will look to maintain their strong play on Sunday when they face the Atlanta Hawks.
