Nick Wright dismisses a “crazy” view of a Josh Allen and Brian Daboll reunion

When the news reported it Brian Daboll has been fired by the New York Giantsfans across the NFL have been wondering who will coach Jackson Dart next, but that’s not the only question that suddenly appeared on the board.
Of course, Dart is one of the more exciting young players in the NFL, and given the young core around him as Abdul Carter, Malik Nabers and Kam StakabuThe Giants could be really exciting in 2026 with the right coach pulling the trigger, but what about Dabola? Will the man who orchestrated one of the best offenses Josh Allen has ever played in come calling again next fall?
Well, admittedly “crazy” opinion of Nick Wrighthe could simply return to Buffalo because, if the Bills make another playoff run, Allen could be looking to bring his favorite coach back for another stint in Nickel City.
“Brian Daboll, maybe he was a little lucky in certain places. His record? He deserved to be fired, but can I draw you a script? Because who likes Brian Daboll?” Josh Allen. Who do some people feel, you know, Brian Daboll is missing? Josh Allen,” Wright said.
“Now, Tyler Dunn’s report is that Daboll and McDermott didn’t get along very well. And that even if Daboll didn’t get the head coaching job, he might have left Buffalo. If you’re right about Buffalo and they’re one-and-done in the playoffs and they decide they have to retire, is that maybe McDer’s idea? ‘Hey, make Brian Daboll my head coach, not my offensive coordinator, my head coach.’ I think there is a scenario where this works really well for Dabol. I don’t pick, I don’t pick that, but I think it’s on the board. If Buffalo has the season you think it could have.”
Would it be crazy to see Dabola go from coaching a bad Giants team to leading one of the perennial AFC favorites after being fired in the middle of the season? Absolutely, but then again, if the Bills lose early again in the playoffs, it would mark a kind of sky-falling scenario that could cost Sean McDermott his job. If that happens, Allen would likely have a lot of say in who coaches him next and, as a result, could push for his man like Wright suggested.
