Nikola Jokic posted fantastic stats despite fouling out against the Rockets

In the barn of the match between the two best and most physically imposing teams in the NBA Denver Nuggets and the Houston Rockets came out on top, 128-125, in overtime. It was a back-and-forth affair with both teams coming up with incredible shots, especially towards the end of the game. But when overtime comes around, the Rockets lose their minds and the Nuggets do enough to get the win.

Nikola Jokic imposed his will all night, ending with more another crazy static line (which is now becoming pedestrian by his standards) of 39 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. The Nuggets star fouled out at the end, but even foul trouble wasn’t enough to slow the three-time MVP in his dominance over the Rockets.

Jokic and Alperen Sengun were embroiled in a battle that seemed very personal. The Rockets star wanted to steal Jokic’s crown, but the Nuggets star had every answer in the bag, which is to be expected from a player as big as him.

Sengun recorded his triple double with 33 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, and is closer to the caliber of Jokic than some would think. Still, the Nuggets star is arguably the best player in the league right now, and everyone could see why.

The good news is that both Jokic and Jamal Murray are healthy, so Denver has the basics of the two-man game that has been the cornerstone of their offense for nearly a decade. But with Peyton Watson has to go out early with the right torso contusion, the Nuggets now have three key cogs in Watson, Christian Brown and Aaron Gordon currently on the mend.

The Nuggets will now look to improve their 19-6 record when they return to action on Thursday night against the Orlando Magic.
