Nikola Jokić was “happy” despite 11 three-pointers
The Denver Nuggets were in the title fight against the Golden State Warriors that went into overtime, but they were unable to come away with the victory, losing 137-131. Despite Art alien game by aaron gordonwho scored 50 points and made 10 of his 11 3-pointers, it wasn’t enough.
While Gordon made 10 of his 3-pointers, Nikola Jokic he missed 11 of his own, making him 2-for-13 in the game. Despite the miss, Jokić did not seem worried after the game. instead, he seemed satisfied with misses, and there’s a good chance he’ll make those shots again.
“I think I need to mix it up,” Jokic said, via Bennett Durand of the Denver Post . “I’m happy with the 3 points (looks). I think I was open. Most of them looked like they were going in, but they weren’t. So, I mean, I’m happy with the shots.”
Even with failures, Jokić ended the night with a triple-doublehe recorded 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. One thing about Jokic, he will always find a way to step up in the next game, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he ended up making half of his 3-pointers.
For now, the Nuggets have to ride out the shots and win their next game against the Phoenix Suns.
The Nuggets lose a tight game to the Warriors in overtime
The Nuggets were in control of the game for most of the first half, but the Warriors started to pick things up late in the third quarter. The Nuggets were still able to keep their composure and led at times, but it was back-to-back games throughout the fourth quarter. Gordon hit a 3-pointer late in the quarter, but Curry answered with his own, sending the game into overtime.
After the game, Gordon talked about the missed opportunity to win despite the big night.
“It’s awful,” Gordon said. “They ask me if I wanted the game ball, and no, I don’t want the game ball to take the L with it. No, thank you. So it’s bullshit. But it’s one game. It’s our first game. … We’ll get back together, watch film … try to play better in the home opener.”
The Nuggets are a battle-tested team and won’t let the first game of 82 get in the way.
