Nikola Jokic’s brilliance made Kendrick Perkins shake his head
Earlier this week, The Denver Nuggets have improved to 9-2 with a comfortable road win over the Los Angeles Clippers. The big story that came out of that game was drama by Nikola Jokićwho scored a whopping 55 points, including 25 in the first quarter alone, in the win.
Most recently, the former NBA big man Kendrick Perkins went on the “Road Trippin'” podcast to describe just so amazed he is what Jokic does.
“I’ve watched Hakeem Olajuwon on his great nights do triple-doubles. Jokic does that on regular nights. So his best nights look like the night we saw last night. He’s the best center I’ve seen in 20 years. I don’t get it, he’s not very athletic. That’s pure Perkin skill.”
“He is shooting 78 percent from the field. What we are seeing right now is unreal. I already believe that he is the most skilled center who has ever played basketball, but the fact that he came in and took it, because this was personal against Zubac, that is why he came out and presented those numbers,” he concluded.
Indeed, Ivica Zubac has long been viewed by many as one of the best “Jokic stoppers” in the league due to his size and defensive prowess, and Jokic must have taken Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue’s lack of double teams personally on Wednesday.
Hot start for the Nuggets

As mentioned earlier, the Nuggets are now 9-2, good for second place in the Western Conference, thanks in large part to Jokic’s continued dominance.
Meanwhile, new teammates Cam Johnson and Tim Hardaway Jr. are starting to look more comfortable in their dens in Denver, and the Nuggets appear to be the only team in the West with a legitimate chance to challenge the Oklahoma City Thunder for conference supremacy.
The Nuggets will next take the floor Saturday night on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
