This is no ordinary heat stroke: Since his arrival in December 2023, New York has posted a 76-36 regular season record with the winger on the floor, or a 68% win rate. Conversely, when the former Raptor is out, this percentage drops to just 55%: 25 wins – 20 losses.
His impact is mostly measured in defense. When he’s in the game, the Knicks are averaging 108 points per 100 possessions, compared to 119 points per 100 possessions when he’s out or on the bench.
“The versatility that OG gives us is incredible”, summarized by Mike Browncoach of New York. “Having this size and this ability to defend is essential. He can take positions 1 through 5. He can also shoot from distance and attack the rim, all these things are necessary for us.”
On Saturday, the Knicks meet the Magic for a place in the NBA Cup finals. The team that they had already beaten last Saturday, during a game where OG Anunobi finished with 21 points on 8/14 shooting.
