Ohio State’s Jack Sawyer clinched a spot in the CFP National Championship with a score and score

Ohio State football will once again playing for the national championship. Coming off a 28-14 win over the Texas Longhorns in the College Football Playoff semifinals at the Cotton Bowl, the Buckeyes will play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Jan. 20. With OSU clinging to a seven-point lead and Texas trying to tie the game, senior rusher Jack Sawyer made a play. His tape, dipstick and subsequent result gave the Buckeyes a 28-14 lead that would last the rest of the game.

“JACK SAVIER SCOOP-AND-SCORE 😱,” ESPN’s official account on X, formerly Twitter, posted. “Ohio State is one step closer to advancing to the National Championship!”

It was the latest in a long line of impressive performances by Sawyer. He’s been in the top spot for a major during his tenure in Columbus, and this may have been the biggest spot yet. now, like Sawyer and his teammates place their collective focus on Notre Dame, how will they approach the opportunity to win the ninth national title in program history? Head coach Ryan Day and his staff will have to answer that question as best they can. Or the Buckeyes could fall again under his direction.
