Omarion Hampton shouts out Jim Harbaugh for unwavering faith

The Los Angeles Chargers activated IR’s Omarion Hampton in time for their Week 14 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles Monday Night Football. The starting quarterback has been sidelined since Week 5 with an ankle injury.

Hampton scored his first touchdown from September 28 on Monday evening. It was the first receiving touchdown of his career. The score helped the Chargers win 22-19 in overtime in a wild game filled with turnovers.

After the win, Hampton gave a shout out to the Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh for his support. “It was amazing (to play for Harbaugh). I mean, he’s always been there for me,” freshman Scott Van Pelt told SportsCenter.

“Just the way he acts, he’s always just with the team, involved in practices and everything,” Hampton said of his coach.

Hampton put the Chargers on the board Monday night. Justin Herbert found the rookie for a four-yard touchdown in the first quarter as LA jumped out to an early lead.

The Chargers were careful not to tire Hampton after his seven-game absence. He carried the ball 13 times for 56 yards and added 11 yards on two receptions. Herbert led Los Angeles with 66 yards against the Eagles.

Veteran quarterback played despite the surgery on his no-throw arm last week. Herbert was battered Monday night as Philadelphia’s relentless pass rush sacked him seven times. He also committed two of eight total turnovers in a very sloppy game.

Jalen Hurts threw four interceptions and fumbled, turning the ball over five times against LA. Hurts even committed two turnovers in one game. The teams committed six turnovers in the second quarter alone. That’s the most first-half turnovers in Monday Night Football since 2009.

After the Chargers opened overtime with a field goal, the Eagles quarterback fittingly ended the game with a turnover. Hurts was looking for Jahan Dotson near the end zone when he was intercepted. Tony Jefferson got the top pick for the Chargers.
