On a free throw, the Suns beat the Warriors to the post!

warriors of the sun

Dillon Brooks At the start of the match, they are struggling (24 points, 7 rebounds) and Jimmy Butler (31 points), while the two defenses are focused on Devin Booker (25 points) and Stephen Curry (15 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists). The Warriors take the lead (29-26), but Phoenix remains on their heels. Royce O’Neal and Colin Gillespie (16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) scored from long range, but so did Buddy Hield and Guy Santos (40-35). Jimmy Butler then continued his momentum and Moses Moody’s 3-pointer gave Golden State a seven-point lead at the break (53-46).

7-0 duo Stephen Curry – Jimmy Butler at the beginning of the third quarter allowed the Warriors to take the lead (60-46). However, the Dubs’ lead melted away like snow in the sun. The turnovers keep coming, and Devin Booker’s layup brings the Phoenix to within minutes (66-66)!

Warriors shoot themselves in the foot (again).

Golden State has scored as many points (7) as it has turnovers in the third quarter, and Colin Gillespie’s five straight points to start the fourth quarter put the Suns ahead for the first time since the first quarter (75-70). Brandin Podziemski’s five points (18 points) revive Golden State, but three new turnovers put them back in the thick of things (84-76).

As the Dubs defense wakes up, “Podz” goes on and ends an 11-2 run with the game winning shot that puts the Warriors ahead (87-86)! This burst, however, is only fleeting. Devin Booker takes matters into his own hands and the Suns make the Warriors pay who spend again and again (94-87)!

Dillon Brooks escapes the worst

Jimmy Butler stops the bleeding, but with less than a minute to play, it’s Dillon Brooks who makes Golden State the offer. He gets a flagrant foul that gives Stephen Curry two free throws, followed by a game-winning shot by Butler to tie the game (96-96)! The Suns have match point. Dillon Brooks sends a brick … but Moses Moody fouls a jumper on Georgeanna Goodwin with 0.4 seconds left. San misses the first free throw, but makes the second. This is Golden State’s third loss in a row.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

Devin Booker and Colin Gillepsis decider. Scoring quietly in the first half, Devin Booker found his rhythm after the break. He scored 23 of his 25 points in the second half and 10 in the final quarter on 4/6 shooting. His leader also left his mark on the game. Gillepsis scored 9 of his 16 points in the final period, but was also valuable in organizing the Phoenix offense late in the game.

Twenty Golden State turnovers, 30 points for Phoenix. The Warriors shot themselves in the foot once again. While they led by 14 points in the third quarter, they completely lost the game, committing seven turnovers in the third quarter to revive the Phoenix and four in the final quarter to allow the Suns to break. If the quantity is spotty, the manner is even more worrisome for Golden State. Most of these bullet losses can be avoided with a little concentration. They tried passes that didn’t exist, put the ball into touch, attacked. When they lose more balls than their opponents, they now have a record of three wins and eleven losses. They now have fifteen failures…

Jimmy Butler finally more aggressive. Often passive or prefer to pass from the start of the season, Jimmy Butler started the game looking to punish the opposing defense. He scored 11 points in the first quarter to set the tone, and 9 in the last quarter to give his team a chance. This is the Jimmy Butler the Warriors had at the end of last season and if they want to turn things around, they need to see this version of Butler more often.
