Orlando sets multiple records in relentless demolition of the 76ers
The The Orlando Magic woke up choosing violence on Tuesday night, while the shorthand Philadelphia 76ers had no chance against them NBA Cup action. With the 76ers missing Joel Embiid, Paul George, VJ Edgecombe and Kelli Oubre Jr., the Magic took advantage and pounded Philly en route to a 144-103 victory.
The Magic used a 51-25 second quarter explosion to dismantle a 76ers team, on their home floor no less, and are continuing their trend of strong play of late. They won seven of their previous 10 on Tuesday night, and they didn’t just stay afloat – they also improved despite the absence of Paolo Banchero.
During this relentless demolition of the 76ers, the Magic set multiple records. According to Orlando Magic headquarters on X (formerly Twitter), the Magic set up a new one franchise record for most points in one quarter (51) as well as most points in one half (86). They also set a new season high (144), surpassing the previous high of 133.
According to Magic PR, this was theirs too fifth in points in franchise history, marking just the fifth time in their 37-year existence that they have surpassed the 140-point mark. Their previous franchise record was set in 1990, when they scored 155 against the Denver Nuggets.
Paolo Banchero’s absence frees up the Magic’s supporting cast

That 76ers team was so helpless defensively, and the Magic made them pay over and over again. They shot over 53 percent from the field, scored 36 points in 21 turnovers in Philadelphia and lived in the paint, scoring 80 points in the shadows. Their offense ranks seventh in the league (in points per 100 possessions), which is a big improvement over the past.
With Banchero out, Magic has a high usage void that needs to be filled as a collective. This increased opportunity he meant the world to someone like Anthony Blackwho scored 31 points on 12-17 shooting to take advantage of the 76ers’ depleted backcourt.
Nine different Magic players scored in double figures on Tuesday, and it’s an all-you-can-eat mentality on offense that’s fueled this good streak for Orlando.
