Oronde Gadsden leaves SNF against Steelers due to injury concern

The Los Angeles Chargers had momentum during Sunday Night Football, but they also picked up unwanted care. Rookie hard end Oronde Gadsden II left the game against Pittsburgh Steelers with an injury to his left knee and was sentenced return questionablythe team announced. Gadsden went down in the third quarter after getting tangled up on a run block, and went to the locker room for evaluation. Early reports echoed the Chargers’ update, noting that he was undergoing further testing.

Los Angeles relied on defense and special teams to set the tone before the injury. Khalil Mack scored Los Angeles’ first points of the night with a safety in the first quarter, collapsing the pocket and bringing down Aaron Rodgers in the end zone.

Cameron Dicker added a 32-yard field goal, and Justin Herbert found Ladd McConkey for a 15-yard touchdown just before halftime, via ESPN Box Score. Pittsburgh’s lone points in the first half came from a Chris Boswell 59 yard field goal. Those early sequences reflected a game where Los Angeles controlled the field position and dictated the pace as the Steelers searched for rhythm.

The rookie played a key role as a versatile tight end who moves around formations, blocks space and gives Herbert an outlet underneath. While he was sidelined, Los Angeles changed snaps to keep their screen game, run action packages and more difficult formations. Jim Harbaugh constantly rotated personnel to settle the offense without one of his most versatile pieces.

As the game wore on, the Chargers looked to hold their lead while the Steelers looked for explosive plays to come back. Every drive looked like a momentum waiting to happen, with both sides relying on situational football to keep them in it.

What’s next depends on the medical update. ‘Questionable to return’ at least leaves the door open, but the Chargers will wait for further testing to find out how serious the problem may be with Gadsden’s knee.
